Marino Marini was born in 1901 in Pistoia, he attended courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. He was interested in the sculpture of Medardo Rosso. He was only 18 when, during a stay in Paris, he discovered the new trends in modern art, which he tried to synthesize with his admiration for ancient statues (Etruscan and Roman). He frequented De Chirico, De Pisis, Magnelli, Campigli, Braque, Picasso, Henri Laurens, Julio Gonzales, Tanguy.
