About the work:
Work commissioned by Alfa Romeo in 1964 and produced in a limited series of pieces to be given as prizes to the car manufacturer’s top drivers for their victories that year.
As a tribute to racing cars, Fontana decided to use steel to represent the machinery of racing cars. Meneghelli, to whom this work was dedicated, was the only woman driver to receive this racing trophy.
